My sweetheart middle child niece turned FOURTEEN in January. I know, I can't believe it either. She has always been something of a firecracker, but also super sweet, and has grown into such a kind and funny young lady. Being a middle child myself, I can't help but think that I can relate to her in a way that her parents cant...and also because I am the cool aunt - that definitely helps!

The pandemic has been uniquely tough on kids her age, I think. My boys are quite a bit younger, and loved the idea of a year-round summer and computer school, but I think these late middle schoolers/high schoolers have probably gotten the shortest end of the stick. They are at an age where their social life is everything, and so to have that taken away for so long has been pretty rough on them. Not to mention all of the angst and hormones that already come with being a teenager. I wanted to do something special for her and her closest girlfriends, so when my sister told me that she was planning a dinner out for them, we planned a surprise mini-photo shoot for her and the other girls. Its safe to say that she was DEFINITELY surprised., and I hope that she enjoyed it.

I was dying over what I am now calling the teenager uniform of ripped jeans, vans, a plan t-shirt and flannel...oh, and the dreaded middle part. I mean they all look very cute with their young collagen and middle parts, but I don't, so I guess I am keeping the side part and skinny jeans until they come back around ;). Here are a few of my favorites of these fun girls:
